B i o g r a p h y

​Lina Saleh is a violinist residing in Los Angeles, CA (born in Stadthagen, Germany). She holds a BA in Violin Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (studying under Meg Freivogel of the Jupiter Quartet) and a MM in Violin Performance from California State University at Northridge (studying with Dr. Lorenz Gamma). She is actively involved in teaching, orchestra, chamber music, and recording projects.​

 

Lina is an active member of the California Young Artist Symphony as well as the Santa Monica Symphony. She has also performed with the American Youth Symphony, San Luis Obispo Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony, Fox Valley Orchestra, DuPage Symphony Orchestra, Joliet Symphony Orchestra, Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra, and the Danville Symphony Orchestra.​Lina has also participated in the FVO Concerto Competition, EYSO Concerto Competition, DSO Concerto Competition, Paul Rolland Violin Competition, and the Tina Weedon Smith Competition, and has been awarded scholarship prizes for several.​

Other performance experiences include participation in masterclasses held by Rachel Barton-Pine, Martin Chalifour, Gil Shaham, Andrew McIntosh, Wynton Grant, Danwen Jiang, Walter Verdehr, Ron-Yan Tang, and others. She studied under renowned international soloist and adjucator Sergiu Schwartz, as well as chamber music under members of the Ying Quartet, at the Bowdoin International Music Festival. Lina was also awarded the Pauline V. and Ralph C. Morgan Memorial Music Award for outstanding achievement at the University of Illinois, as well as an honors scholarship at CSUN.​

During her studies at CSUN, Lina was a member of the Honors String Quartet, performing in recitals, masterclasses, and chamber music festivals. She also served as concertmaster of the CSUN Symphony Orchestra.

 

Lina spends much of her time teaching, having been the only undergraduate staff member of the Illinois String Academy as well as the Champaign School of Music. She also maintains a private violin studio, and regularly substitutes for the studio of Mrs. Susan Starrett. She currently teaches at the Santa Monica Conservatory of Music, and alongside Lauren Deutsch at her studio in Woodland Hills.
